Life is GOOD

Summertime and the livin' (and craftin') is easy!

Maybe it's eating fresh produce from your garden or farmers' market or barbecue with friends. Maybe it's a family vacation or a lazy day reading and napping in a hammock or visiting on a porch swing. Perhaps it is celebrating a wedding or birthday any time of year. We scrapbook all kinds of moments to help us remember the good times. Looking back, we can probably say that despite its sometimes unpleasant difficulties, for the most part, life is good.

What does living the good life mean to you? Show us how your Life is GOOD by making a papercrafting or digital project -- be sure to use at least some Close To My Heart supplies -- and link up your blog to Heart 2 Heart Challenges. For this challenge, you'll have to hurry! All July challenges close July 31. This is the final challenge in the "Life is" series. Come back next week for the first August challenge on a different theme.

Our talented guest designer Gretchen has this amazing project to show just how good life is!

Our Two New Teams

Now that you've met the new gals here at Heart 2 Heart, it's time to introduce our new teams for our July-December term.  (I cannot say the last half of the year, because there is no way the year is already half over!!!)  We decide a few years ago to have two teams to offer greater variety and to help the Design Team not be overwhelmed by their duties.  We alternate teams each week, but of course we're all welcome to play along any time.

You may notice that we did a little rearranging and some of our returning DT are on different teams than before.  We think you'll enjoy the variety.  In our tradition of naming our teams CTMH colors, I would like to introduce TEAM SLATE to you!

TEAM CASHMERE's members are:
You can see that we stretch around the world with great representation of our Close To My Heart countries.  Tomorrow, Team Cashmere will be up with our first July challenge.  See you then!

Welcome Our New Design Team Members!

The current Heart 2 Heart designers are so excited to welcome some fresh new faces to our design team!  We are looking forward to a fantastic second half of the year and the creativity these ladies are bringing to the team.
Hi Everyone! I am Angela White and I have been a Close To My Heart consultant for almost 2 years. I started scrapbooking in 2009 but I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. I've been married to my wonderful husband for 17 years, and am a mother of 5 (3 are in college, 1 in high school and my youngest is in middle school). I am also a pet mom to our parrott Mickey and  2 dogs, Tinkerbell our Yorkie and Sephora our Boston Terrier. Aside from being a mom and a Close To My Heart consultant, I help my husband manage our family business.

I appreciate having the flexibility to devote time to my crafting and sharing my passion with others.
I believe that the best way to preserve and share our life's memories are done through scrapbooks, cards and other crafts. I am so excited to be a part of the Heart2Heart Challenges and hope that I can help inspire everyone to share their passion and memories through crafting.

Hi everyone!  I am Melissa Robinson and have been a Close To My Heart Consultant since October 1998! An educator by day, my most recent positions were as a high school and elementary school Principal but am currently working outside of education as a Financial Analyst.

I was invited to attend my first CTMH gathering with my Mom approximately 20 years ago.  She invited me to a "stamp" party and I reluctantly went, feeling sorry for her to have to attend by herself and thinking it was postage stamps (lol)!  Boy did I leave with a different feeling! I love Close To My Heart products and all the fabulous people I have met through this company and who share the love of papercrafting.

I currently reside in Irving, Texas and am the Director of the Heartfelt Sentiments Team.  I am honored to have been selected as a member of the H2H Design Team and look forward to celebrating your creativity!
Hello, Crafty Friends!  My name is Laurie Levorson and I am beyond excited to be a new member of the Heart 2 Heart Design Team!  I am the happy wife of a wonderful husband, the proud mother of two grown sons, and the giddy grandmother of an 18 month old perfect little boy!  I have lived all my life in a small town near Lincoln, Nebraska.  I recently retired from 32 years of teaching kindergarten and first grade and happily joined the Close To My Heart family a little over a year ago.   I love to read, golf, and garden but my favorite place at home is in my craft room.  I caught the paper crafting bug about 10 years ago and have been addicted ever since!

I look forward to sharing my work on the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog and making new blogging friends!

Hi. I'm Heather Jane Schmuckal, I live on our family farm near Traverse City, MI. I have been a Close To My Heart Consultant for over 4 years. I’m married to my high school sweetheart and together we chase around our three children. My family tree has many talented and artistic role models in it. As a baby I toddled down the isle of my Grandmother’s arts and craft store where she taught painting classes. I grew up with the encouragement to follow my talents where they might lead me. During elementary school I was the gal that the other kids asked for my help on the cards we were making for the nursing home. In high school, art class was my favorite- I did Independent Study. I earned many awards during high school and college, a billboard with my design, and a few cash prizes. I worked as a graphic artist until my third baby was born, since then I have been a happy homemaker. I have been scrapbooking for about 18 years, since I discovered an album my Mom had put together of her college years. Seeing a story told of a time my Mom was not just “my Mom” was inspiring! I want to tell my story!

Hello!  I’m Paige Dolecki from Stampologist.com and I’ve been a CTMH Consultant for the past 7+ years.  I’m addicted to creating beautiful things with our stamps and our amazing Cricut cartridges and love sharing my passion with my customers and friends!  My family calls my craft room a cave of wonders because my kids know they can probably find just about anything they need for a project in Mom’s room.  My husband and I have a daughter in college at Washington State Univeristy, a son who is a high school senior and a son who is in his last year of middle school.  Besides getting creative on a regular basis I am also a Black Belt in Tae-Kwon-Do and enjoy teaching students how to achieve their own black belts through mentoring and instruction.  I’m looking forward to being on the Heart 2 Heart Design Team and sharing inspiration with my fellow Close to my Heart fans!

Happy New Year with our New Designers!

The new year is bringing about a few changes here at Heart 2 Heart Challenges, first with the addition of three talented "new" faces.  Please join me in welcome our new design team members!

I'm Nikka Geers.  I am a military wife currently in Texas, but Michigan is my home.  I have been with my hubby for 11 and half years, but only have been married for 5 once he joined the army. I have a fur baby named Bonnie.  She is a bull terrier, like Spud Mackenzie.  I have been a CTMH consultant since 2010.  When I became a consultant, I had never touched a single product from CTMH, just a catalog for 2006.  But I got the consultant kit and I fell in love.  I have crafted almost my whole life and I think I would go crazy (crazier actually) if I didn't craft.  I was super excited when I got the news that I am going to be on the design team. My hubby looked at me like was crazy.  I can't wait to create with you guys!

Cynthia McCloud here!  I have been scrapbooking since 2005, but I have been telling stories much longer -- as a journalist, since 1996. After a dozen years writing and editing at a midsize daily newspaper, I get to do what I love from home. I've freelanced for various publications, including The New York Times. I'm a part-time reporter for The State Journal newspaper and I freelance for a regional lifestyle magazine. In January, I'll start taking online classes at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. My eventual goal is to get a Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction.

Scrapbooking is a different chapter of my life story. I founded a scrapbooking retreat with a friend that we're slowly trying to grow.
I have been a Close To My Heart consultant for three years. When I teach scrapbookers, crop alongside them or speak to them through my blog and Facebook, I passionately encourage them to make sure they're in some of the photos on their layouts. I'm like many women who scrapbook to record our children’s lives for them. We are a big part of that life! Moms, as the chroniclers of family history, are the people behind the camera. Caught up in recording the milestones in their families’ lives before the details fade moms overlook the missing pieces: themselves. No one’s telling their stories and if they don’t start, who will? It’s our history, too, and we should be a main character not a footnote.

The other characters in my story are my high school sweetheart to whom I have been married for 17 years; our 11-year-old daughter, who scraps with me at crops; and two fat beagles. We live in a snowy, mountainous part of north-central West Virginia.

Hi!  I'm Alyson Mayo from Barrie, Ontario, Canada.  I have been a Close To My Heart consultant since 2007 and I am a former teacher of grades 7 and 8.  I began scrapbooking when one of my nephews was born and haven't looked back since.  Cards are my first choice but I also do a variety of other types of crafting as well.  I enjoy reading, walking, and am very active in my church community.  I have a beautiful little puppy named Mika who is great source of laughter in my life.  She is a year and a half old now and weighs in at a whopping 6.4 pounds.

Thanks, ladies, for joining us for this first term of 2015.  We're excited about the talent that you are bringing to our Design Team, and can't wait to see how you interpret our challenges.  See everyone again on Monday for our first challenge of the new year.

Happy 2015!!!!!!!!!!!

A Huge Thank You

Two of our lovely designers are retiring here at the end of 2014.  Please join me and all of the Heart 2 Heart Designers in thanking Adeline Brill and Jen Patrick for their contributions to H2H!  We will miss them both but look forward to seeing them here from time to time.  Thank you both again for all the time and talent you have so freely given.  Wishing you the best in 2015!

Welcome, Adeline and Lauren!

It's time to welcome two more CTMH artists to the Heart 2 Heart Design Team.  How about a round of applause for Adeline Brill, AKA Sweet Aline?
I am a retired high school teacher who started scrapbooking when my youngest son graduated from high school.  I have been a CTMH consultant since 2005 and I enjoy teaching workshops including Cricut classes, scrapbook layouts and mini-books.  I also teach sewing and software classes for a local Bernina store.  I am  originally from WNY but have lived in Tampa, Florida for the last 21 years.

Continue to clap for Lauren Moore, who will be bring her talent to us all the way from New Zealand!

She writes:
I am from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Married now for 6 1/2 years, I am a stay at home mom to 2 boisterous boys, so crafting is my peaceful time.  I have been scrapbooking for six years (starting with my wedding album) , and have only just started making cards this year.  Cards are a lot quicker for me than a layout, but I still love to scrapbook family moments.

Welcome, Debi and Allison!

Now it is time to welcome our new Heart 2 Heart Design Team Members!  We are so excited to have these talented ladies on board with us for the rest of the year!  First up is Debi Barber.
Debi says:
I am a single mother (and soon to be first time Grandmother) of two beautiful daughters.  As a tax professional by trade I need a creative outlet and paper crafting and scrapbooking is my medium of choice right now.  I’ve been paper crafting for most of my adult life, and began the art of scrapbooking about 10 years ago.  Coincidently (or perhaps not) I have also been a Close To My Heart consultant for 10 years.  I joined CTMH as a venue to meet people when I found myself single again and I have succeeded in that venture and more.  I love to experiment with various crafting supplies and have found my passion is then to share with everyone the end results of my experimentation.  I am excited to join the Heart to Heart Challenge team and hope I can inspire everyone with their paper crafting projects.

We would also like to welcome Allison "Allie" Kostiuk to the Design Team!
Hi! My name is Allie Kostiuk. I live with my wonderful husband and teach grade 3 in the beautiful Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. I was first introduced to the world of stamps and scrapbooking by my aunts at our summer cabin while I was in elementary school. We had all seen rubber stamps and played around with them before, but it was that summer when we started creating our own cards with stamps. It wasn’t until I was in high school when I created my first scrapbook. Going off to college and university and meeting so many amazing new friends encouraged me to scrapbook my experiences each summer. My aunt introduced me to Close To My Heart products during this time and after graduating university, I decided to become a consultant as well. I am so pleased to be on my first design team ever with Heart2Heart and look forward to the challenges ahead :)!

Introducing Our July Guest Designer

Please welcome Gina Brandstetter to the July Heart 2 Heart Design Team!

Hi My name is Gina Brandstetter.  I'm so honored to be asked  to be this month's Guest Designer.   I've been a Close to My Heart Consultant since 2006 and I have loved every minute of it! Several years ago I started looking for way to challenge my creativity so I began following Blog Challenges.   Heart 2 Heart was one of the first challenges that got me started.  I now keep a list of challenges that I love to check out each day and it is the first thing I do every morning!  I may not have time to play with each one and sometimes I may only get one done in a week but I still love to follow along!    In addition to my passion for paper crafting I do have a full time job, two grown daughters, a wonderful husband who appreciates my papercrafting business and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Remi who actually thinks he is Human.
So come on and join in the fun with the H2H Challenges this month.  They are going to be fun!  I look forward to seeing everyone's creations!

Design Team Call!

Do you love Heart 2 Heart Challenges?  Want to share your love of creating with Close To My Heart?  Then consider applying for our Design Team!  It is almost the end of the first 2015 design team term, and it's time to apply for the next round of the Design Team here at H2H.  Your term will be July-December.   If you’re still interested after reading through the requirements, send your application to h2hchalleges@gmail.com.

We will continue to have TWO Design Teams!! The teams will both have 6 month terms but will split the responsibilities with Team A inspiring us one week and Team B inspiring us the next. This allows the teams members to get a little "break" and gives them additional time to get their artwork ready for their week's challenge.

If you would like to be considered for one of the teams, here is the application process:
* Email me with your name, address, blog address, email address and a little bio about you. Be sure to tell me why you want to be a part of the team and how long you have been a consultant.

* You MUST know how to write and publish a post on Blogger. Each DT member will have a couple of weeks (scattered throughout your six month term) in which you are responsible for hosting/writing the Monday challenge post. Don't worry - I will be around to help out with this as well but please only apply if you are comfortable blogging.

* You must send photos of three of your pieces of artwork. DO NOT send me a link to your blog to look at your artwork there - I want you to pick what you consider three of your best and include them with the application.

ALL applications must be received by May 23.  We will make the selection of the new team members by June 1 and the new team will start on July 1!

Here are some more things to keep in mind about a position on the DT.  You are committing to:
*Participate in a challenge every other week (each of your team's weeks) and have your artwork for each challenge posted to the DT Facebook Group the Saturday before the challenge begins.
*Make an effort to post your artwork on any other boards/galleries you belong to and advertise our challenge blog whenever and wherever you can so we can continually grow in numbers of participants. We currently have an H2H page on Facebook that I would like DT members to join but this is optional.  (The Facebook DT group is required.)
*Participate in any extra programs that we may decide upon as a team. You are also expected to weigh in on your choices of winners in monthly awards (Top Ten).
*Join a Facebook Group set up specifically for team members.
*Visit the blogs of the challenge participants and leave comments.
*Serve as H2H blog hostess about once every other month.  (You must know how to use Blogger to do this.)
*Be a member of Pinterest to help keep our boards active there (during your hostess week).
*Your term would be July-December 2014 with an option to renew at the end of your term.
*Offer a small prize at least once during your term.

What you get in return:
* Commitment to producing artwork once every 2 weeks gives you an opportunity to create on a regular basis!
* Increased blog traffic which will hopefully lead to an increase in your business!
* Fun and fellowship with the entire team and a chance to meet new consultants and CTMH fans!

I think that about wraps it up. What are you waiting for? Send in your application today!! (Any questions can be directed to me at h2hchalleges@gmail.com.)

Good Morning Crafters!!  Thanks to everyone who has joined us in the new year!  You have all month to play along with any of our January challenges, including our scrapbook challenge, Sentimental Journey.

This week our challenge is all about "CTMH". That's right, we want you to create a project using the letters "C", "T", "M", and "H" in some way.  You can use the letters themselves or use a product or technique using the letters.  Maybe you want to use Card stock, a Technique, etc.  OR you can come up with another clever way to incorporate the letters into your project!

Be sure to use some CTMH products in your creation, explain how your project fits this week's challenge, and of course be sure to mention your favorite challenge blog, Heart 2 Heart, in your post.

Check out our guest designer Debbie's gorgeous creation:

And our Team Cocoa designers' creations:

In with the "New"

It's time to welcome our NEW Heart 2 Heart Challenges Design Team Members for 2014!  We're really excited to be bringing some fresh new faces on board, to share their talent and creativity to inspire you each week.  Join me in extending a warm welcome to...

LaJeania Hicks says, "I started scrapbooking over 17 years ago. My love for papercrafting first began at a home gathering shortly after our youngest son was born. I scrapbooked on and off for about 10 years, then a friend invited me to a Close To My Heart home gathering about 7 years ago. I remember sitting there saying, I like the papers, but stamping just isn't for me. Well, the consultant gently pushed me into giving it a try and I must say, I was hooked immediately! I left that night with a renewed passion for papercrafting. I joined a club and began scrapbooking as often as possible. About six months later, our consultant told us she was moving out of state. After another gentle push, I was convinced to sign up to be a consultant. In January I will have been a consultant for 6 years and it has truly changed my life. I have met the most talented group of ladies and had opportunities that I could have never imagined. I host a monthly scrapbooking class and teach cardmaking classes. I am inspired every week by the challenges at Heart 2 Heart, and I am thrilled to be a part of the design team."

"Hi there, I'm Jen Patrick from Fresno CA.  I have been married to my best friend, a high school baseball coach for 12 years.   We have an 8--year-old sporty boy and sweet & sassy 5-year-old girl. We also have two crazy labradors- Roxy & Bonds.  In my spare time I'm a full time physical education teacher.
I was introduced to Close To My Heart 7 years ago and I had to have it all.  It didn't take me long to join and it's been a FUN journey so far! I'm the proud Director of the Roxybonds Scrappers Team.  CTMH has brought me new friends both in customers, sister consultants and my amazing team.  CTMH has also allowed me to travel to places I may have never been able to go to otherwise- like Washington DC, Dallas, Disneyworld all for conventions, Utah for events, a cruise to the South Caribbean and upcoming trip to Costa Rica.  CTMH has blessed my life in so many ways!

"Scrapbooking is my passion; but I partake in all kinds of paper crafting, including card making and home decor items. I craft whenever I can! I just love to share it with others, whether teaching classes, holding workshops or doing home gatherings!

"I'm thrilled to be a part of the H2H team in 2014 and cannot wait to share artwork and connect with you all!"

Brandi Robinson says, "I have been scrapbooking for 10 years and that obsession led to my card making and general paper crafting passions. I have plenty of inspiration with 3 adorable little girls and a husband who totally supports my obsession and does not make to much fun of me! I live in Ontario, Canada and have been a Close to my Heart consultant for 5 years. Heart 2 Heart is my second design team, I am currently also on the Design Team for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge."

"Hi...I'm Debbie Reed.  I live in the state of Minnesota. I've been married for 27 years and we have two adult children ages 25 and 21.  I love to sew and I have always loved doing crafts...I have all of my life, from first learning how to knit as a young girl, to my mom teaching me how to crochet.  From there it just bloomed :-)   I really like trying new, different craft projects.  I became a CTMH consultant last May.  I absolutely love it!
In my opinion, no other products compare to the quality, variety and beauty of CTMH.  I enjoy helping others explore their creativity and discover just what they can do.  I am so excited to be a part of the H2H design team for the first part of the new year!"

and our "Scrapbook Captain," S'andra VanWoerden:
"Hello everyone, So excited to be here with H2H Scrapbooking and hope you have fun creating and crafting as we preserve those precious moments we have frozen in time. Yep, It's time to have some fun scrapbooking and enjoying life in 2014. Hope you'll join me and share your creative juices with us.

"My journey as a crafter started many many years ago. I have delved into many aspects of art, from drawing to crocheting to painting. Love them all. Not as much as Scrapbooking.  Scrapbooking became a part of my life 20+ years ago as I was invited to a picture party. (had not a clue as to what I was getting into) LOL!!!
Scrapbooking stayed and has been a source of enjoyment as well as therapy for me when my SLE takes over. Scrapbooking with paper and pics was a huge part of my early years. Then, 7 years ago I was introduced to stamping/inking with CTMH...May I just say, my creative juices really started flowing and Scrapbooking reached a much higher level than I could have ever imagined. Naturally one thing led to another and I became a consultant three years ago. Have loved every minute of it and my family knows, when I'm in a major creating mood....they are on their own...LOL!!!
Over the years I have learned not to get so caught up on how I am creating my Layouts or Scrapbooks but more importantly, that I enjoy and have fun doing it. I seem to be a mood scrapbooker... meaning...my layouts take on what I feel like at that particular moment. No chronological order or special event based project. Though, sometimes I may try to start with a plan, sketch, or idea, I find my creations take on a life of their own. What's that saying? "It's not what you choose to do when PLAN A bombs, but how you choose to go on to PLAN B and let life happen." I apply this to my scrapbooking and it has worked well for me.

"I have a very loving and craft minded understanding husband of 25 years. He's even crafted with me a few times and seemed to grasp the understanding of why it's so important to me. I have two grown daughters and a grandson who is the light of my life these days. You'll get to meet them as we create over the next 6 months together.
Once again, I can't wait to get to play and visit your blogs each month. So come join us and lets have some creative fun. *;) winking
Happy Creating~S`andra V.

Please join me in giving our new Design Team members a very warm welcome!

Out with the "Old"

As 2013 draws to a close, it is time to say farewell to some of our favorite 2013 designers.  I would personally like to thank them publicly, from the bottom of my heart, for all that they've contributed here at Heart 2 Heart Challenges.  Thank you so very, very much for everything!  We're going to miss you,

and Paige

Feel free to visit their blogs to wish them a little H2H farewell love.  Of course, their parting is such sweet sorrow, but they leave room for some fresh new faces here at H2H.  We'll be unveiling our new DT soon!

Shadows and Shades

Good Morning Everyone!

It's that time of the week -- a NEW challenge here at Heart 2 Heart Challenges!  This week our challenge was to create something using the theme/technique of "ombre".  What you ask is "ombre"?  Well, that's what we design team members wondered as well.  Basically it has to do with shadows and shades.

Merriam-Webster defines it as:

having colors or tones that shade into each other —used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark

Huh??  Well here is another definition AND a pic to give you a better idea:

Spaces Design

Get it now?  What a challenging challenge this was for us all but I think you are going to LOVE what we came up with.  Here's our Guest Designer Hansi's beautiful card:

...And Team Twilight's twist on the ombre effect:
Carol

Kelly

Marie

Lucy

Haley

Brittany

So there you have it ... OMBRE!!

Can't wait to see what you can create using this technique!

Don't forget to read the guidelines at the top left and use the 'linky tool' below with a link that goes DIRECTLY TO YOUR H2H CHALLENGE POST!  You must use some CTMH products in your project or your link will be deleted.  Thanks for understanding!

NOTE:    Usually our challenges end at the end of the month but because that would leave us such a short week for you to enter, we have EXTENDED the deadline to enter this week's challenge until SATURDAY, AUGUST 3RD at MIDNIGHT!

Let's see what YOU come up with!
